International visitors come to SOTF

Today was a very good day. Visitors from other countries came to talk about how they was living and their cultures. I think it was very interesting.I learned a lot from listening to the different people. I also enjoyed the different questions that were being asked. I think the visitors helped me get more knowledge about their homes and their religions.

The World Comes to School of the Future
About this category: Education

Today on the 5th day of February 5 people from 4 different countries came to visit us here at the School of the Future. It was 4 male teachers and 1 female. They were all English teachers. This was the 1st time for some of them to ever come to the US. They are here for until June. For the next six weeks they will be at the School of the Future observing the learners as well as the educators. They all speak at least two languages some even four. Therefore they will be helping the learners learn their new languages.

They came today, talked one on one with about 11 learners and had a tour of the new school. They spent some time in some of the classes and got to see how some of the learners act. They got to see how our school differs in many ways. They got to go to the gym and they enjoyed there selves. They played basket ball and did some pull ups. They really had fun. They had lunch with 11 learners and left at about 12:30.

Iternational Visitors
About this category: Culture

I think today was a great oppertunity for all of us kids at S.O .T .F. ( School of the future). I think that it was a big eyeopener to the people that came from the different countries, because they learned how we function and how we live and learn at the School of the future. To me this was a big eyeopener for me in general, because I learned about how things are being functioned outside of the country I live in. I really enjoyed it alot and I sure they did. I am happy i got to expeirence this today.

What do I think?
About this event: 2006 United Nations Conference on Human Rights Migration and Development

The article I read was about children be sold by their own parents into slavery for little as $180. The reason they do this is because of proverty. They are so poor (they live in ghana) that they sale their own children. This needs to be put to a stop. Many people are against it and I am to. Why does the government allow this happen? Most of the children being sold are btween the ages of 3-14 and they are mostly boys. I think this is ridiculous, but how can we change this?

involuntary trafficing
About this event: 2006 United Nations Conference on Human Rights Migration and Development

involuntary traficing is a very bad thing to do to people. i dont think that it was right to take people from there home town and moved them to where ever and treat them like they want to.
1. why do they do this?
2. do the people like when they do it?
3. if you dont go will they kill you?

Migration
About this event: 2006 United Nations Conference on Human Rights Migration and Development

What is the dark side with migration?
How does migration open doors for women?
Why is the demand for women migrants at an all time high?
This article is about how women migrate for a better life. They come to the united States for a better life, and better jobs. They come over to the United States.

immigration
About this event: 2006 United Nations Conference on Human Rights Migration and Development

Immigration doesn' really effect me because from what I know all of my family members that I know personally are all usa citizens. Immigration does effect my ancestors though cause they were brought over from africa into the usa. But im not even sure because I dont really know my history and where I really come from.

trafficing of women

I really don't think that trafficing on women was a good thing to do because the people that did that to the women in their family. Because I wouldn't want them to do that to any of the many women in my family, So i wouldn't do it to nobody else. And thats just the way i feel about trafficing on women.

Stop the Violence March
About this event: I Can, I Will...Step Up, Stop the Violence March

I think the stop the violence march is positive and helpful, we should do things like this more often in Philadelphia. I am pleased with how many marches Philadelphia's radio stations have been doing this year. It is a good thing that our school is getting involved in this event. People need to hear our voices about the violence and just put it to an end. There should be more enforced laws about violence. Our city is to small for all of this violence.

What is a profile? A profile is an entry that gives an outline of someone. It tells the public someones likes, dislikes, and intrests. In other words a profile characterizes a person.

Member Stories/ eigwe.tigblog.org
About this category: Child & Youth Rights

Nina only had one idea that I was interested in and that was volunteering at an orphanage.
When I read Nina's story it made me think about helping children who really need a shoulder to lean on.One of the idea's her story gave me was to start helping out children. It even made me think of telling my friends about her story so they can get involved.
I chose Nina's story because she wrote about helping children. Not just any children but children who have lost important people in their life. Every child needs someone to be by their side.
Nina's also made me realize how blessed I'am to have my mom and supporters by my side.
